Every man carries within himself the eternal image of woman, not the image of this or that particular woman, but a definite feminine image. This image is fundamentally unconscious, a hereditary factor of primordial origin.
— Carl Jung

As every artist knows, a person cannot consciously create a great work of art. What happens in the creative process is that the conscious mind surrenders and gets out of the way. And mountains move. Nietzsche once observed "How good bad music and bad reasons sound when we are marching into battle against an enemy".

I often ask Code Zero participants to try to be angry when thinking of their favorite piece of music. The purpose of this is to show that anger, a conscious process cannot override love, and unconscious process. The Law of Opposite Effect states "that when will and imagination compete, imagination will always win".

In Robert Cialdini's book "Pre-suasion" he highlights the fact that before a person consciously recognizes something, their unconscious mind has already made the decision. The realization that we have been incorrectly taught that the limited conscious mind is the most important element by which to live our lives is rising exponentially throughout society.

This knowledge is not new because it appears throughout history in ancient writings and teachings. Yet in our modern "civilized world" for over 200 years the unconscious mind has been subjugated, derided, belittled, dismissed, ignored and undermined. The question of course is why?
